Three AMAZING Multimedia website!

I've recently been looking at what makes a great multimedia website. Multimedia means implementing more than one form of media, this can be video, sound, interactivity, animation and so on.

Here are three great examples that I've found today, check them out!

The first one is the Innocent Smoothie website.

This company is known for its quirky, playful and soft approach to branding. It's hand-drawn font and silly pictures are instantly recognisable. There is a very child-like nature to their branding. Another enormous part of IS's identity is that they are in touch with nature. They use natural ingredients, give to charity and are always in touch with the charitable and human side of the modern world.

This website is great because it is perfectly consistent with the products they sell and their brand identity. The gentle animations that unfold throughout the page feel soft and playful as they should for this brand. The page's content also reacts to the way you scroll, which is a nice touch and keeps the user engaged and includes them in IS's world. It invites the user to interact with the world of IS.

The second one I have found is the Overwatch website. Home to Blizzard's Overwatch series (Video game).

This is a great example of a multimedia site. Because it immediately begins playing a high-impact, intense video of the combat that takes place in the world of Overwatch. This is multimedia because the website is playing video content of the actual product you have clicked on. It is instantly involving you in the high-energy world of this product.

The rest of the website remains true to multimedia and also the OW brand. All of the font and block-styling is very similar to the in-game world - where you are part of a global defence cooperation, fighting crime and saving the world. The website has a character selection part, where you can discover more about the characters and the world of OW. This is multimedia because you can interact with the page and become immersed and ultimately strengthen your attachment or form an attachment to this product.

These are two uses of multimedia the OW website uses.

The final website I've found, which is a great use of multimedia is the Hong Kong Design Institute.

This page is for a design institute, so it really should be a top priority for the institute to make a good impression on any new visitors to the website.

This is done brilliantly by using multimedia. When you enter the site first, the graphic you are greeted with at the header of the page is a different colour every time. This is actually an extremely smart idea. Because people who only visit once, will assume that the colour they see is the colour attached to the website, but people who visit more than once will soon notice that the colour is different every time.

This automatically proves to the viewer that this design school is very creative and cutting edge, because it's interactive but in a unique way. This is an example of multimedia because it in a way is interactive video/interactive web design.

The rest of the site has very smooth transitions with sleek animations revealing information about the site as you go down. This is a great example of a multimedia site because it implements stunning visual design, smooth animations and transitions and also interactive elements that are dotted around the site.
